Deer Creek Valley Ranch Wedding

Today is so exciting because we are elated to be sharing Molly and Matt’s Deer Creek Valley Ranch wedding with y’all today. Just barely three weeks after their wedding, everyone is still on cloud 9 with all the emotion and love felt between these two. The first time we met Molly and Matt was over the phone after our sweet friends at Prive Events introduced us. Since we weren’t sure when we’d meeting in person, we immediately jumped on the opportunity to shoot their engagement session during a quick trip from Texas.

As the snow came down, we got to hear all about their story, how they met, what they do for work, and how Matt proposed. After meeting in a running group training for the Dallas Marathon, these two hit it off immediately. Their first date was at a wine cellar in Texas, which is also the exact place Matt decided to propose.

This wedding as truly an honor for us to be apart of. Thank you so much to the amazing vendors who made this day simply magical. Thank you to the new Mr. & Mrs. Ockerman for having us document these memories for you. Love you guys!

Tell us about your first look at Deer Creek Valley Ranch! Having done one, would you do it again?

 “YES! I most definitely recommend a first look. I cried my eyes out, like really cried my eyes out. I’m glad I did it in front of him and not in front of everyone because there were a lot of tears 🙂 It was nice to just be alone with him for a few minutes without any distractions before the crazy began.”

How did you guys choose Deer Creek Valley Ranch for your wedding venue?

“Being from out of state, choosing a venue was really important to us, so we made a special trip and visited 6 venues in 2 days. We choose Deer Creek Valley Ranch because it was perfect for us––we wanted to get married outside and the meadow was the perfect backdrop. Matt and I liked how it was rustic without being overkill. It was the perfect space for the amount of people we invited.”

If you could pick one word to describe your wedding ceremony at Deer Creek Valley Ranch, what would it be?

“Magicalandperfect. Ok that was three words put together, but one word would be magical.”

What is your most memorable moment from your wedding day?

 “Mine was when I finally got to say “I Do” and kiss my husband for the first time! Oh, and to finally get to call him my husband!”

In regards to your new adventure in marriage, what are you most looking forward to?

“It’ll be a cheesy answer, but looking forward to the rest of our lives. I get to spend the rest of my life with my best friend. We get to go on adventures together, create a family, laugh and cry, and in the end still come out together.”

What has been the most fun part of wedding planning for you?

 “Matt and I both liked the dessert and meal tasting. I personally liked the very end where I saw everything come together–the timeline and rehearsal. It all seemed real then.”

Do you have any advice for couples planning their wedding now?

 “Plan and talk and argue. Know that things will be both easy and difficult, but in the end everything will work out like it is supposed to. Believe me, there were hiccups leading up to the wedding, but in the end, it was perfect.”

Let’s talk honeymoon! Are you going on one?

 ‘Yes, we are going to Germany, Austria and Italy. Matt planned the whole thing. I told him since I planned most of the wedding, he could plan the honeymoon. We can’t wait to relax and adventure just the two of us.”
