Myer Ranch / Flying J Ranch, Conifer, Colorado | Anyone who’s ever had their photos taken knows the worst body part to have are hands. They’re awkward and in the way and we never know what to do with them. After my years of portrait photography, I’ve learned that this is especially true with women. We naturally resort to putting our hands on our hips and hoping for the best. Eventually though, we’ll say, “Really though, what do you want me to do with these?” while insecurely and frantically waving our hands in the air.
I knew going into Mallory’s photo shoot that her hands, like every other person cursed with them during a photo shot, would be in her way. So, I drove to 3 different grocery stores to find a sunflower (can you believe it?! Sold out in September!) and shoved a full size chair into the back of Phoebe, my beloved Corolla. I knew that having just these two props and some hay in the fields at Myer Ranch and Flying J would add an immediate boost of confidence and allow Mallory to focus on her effortless beauty and smiles, instead of her hand placement.
During her photo shoot, Mallory was absolutely flawless and a bit of confidence shone through her photos. She was excited for the shoot and dealt with my bouncing-off-the-walls energy that graced us that evening. I had her and her momma, Jill, hiking up hills and bouncing from this part of the field to that part of the field to this bridge and to that barn. It was a great workout, to say the least, and we were all giggles the whole time!
I absolutely loved working with Mallory during her senior portraits! She is an absolutely stunning lady and has big dreams of becoming a Husker and pursuing the nursing program at the University of Nebraska. I wish her all the best and am so thankful that I got to work with her during one of the most exciting times in her life. Congratulations on making it to your senior year and I hope it’s everything you imagined it would be!
Cheers,
Tay
