Mount Princeton Hot Springs Wedding
Cheryl and Janaka’s Mount Princeton Hot Springs Wedding
I am so excited to share this amazing couple’s wedding with y’all on this Friday! The just tied the knot on Sunday, but with such an amazing day, I just couldn’t wait to get to editing their photos. Cheryl and Janaka are easily two of the most amazing people we’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. From our first phone chat to when they came over to our place for drinks and snacks, we hit it off immediately! Their story is one of the stars aligning perfectly and following their hearts that ultimately lead to each other. Their passion for adventure and love of all things outdoors made their wedding day at Mount Princeton Resort in Nathrop, Colorado one to remember! With 30MPH winds but a blue bird sky, these two were down for anything, including getting into the river! To you both, we just love you and are so excited for our friendship what has blossomed these last few months. We can’t wait to see where your marriage takes you!
Love you guys!
Mike and Tay
• How did you two meet? “We were neighbors living in the same apartment complex we both recently moved into. We both seriously felt it was fate that brought us there.”
• Tell us about your first date! “He asked me to go with him to a family/friend BBQ and I thought, “Oh, heck no, I barely know this guy and I have to meet everyone he knows as I’m trying to get to know him?” But something in me said, “just say yes.” I was so happy I said “yes” because getting to know his friends helped convince me what an amazing person he was…since you are who you hang with! ;)”
• When did you know you wanted to marry each other? “I knew the very first night we hung out. He had he same sense of humor as I did, and I thought “yesssssssssss” and we laughed our butts off together and were so in sync I knew I couldn’t let him go!!”
• How did Janaka propose? “He delivered me flowers at work with a riddle on the card. I figured out we were leaving on a plane that night to an unknown destination. We flew into Vegas where he rented a car and drove to the undisclosed destination. I finally figured out we were going to Zion. After we unloaded our things at the cutest B&B, we decided to go on a hike. He took me to the top of Angels Landing at Zion Canyon Nat’l Park. It took a lot of convincing to get me to the top of that hike. It is sheer cliffs and straight up death-defying. I looked down to get a good foothold and when I looked back up I saw him slip something in his pocket. I knew then what was happening. I knew that was my moment to either jump or walk forward! I did the latter. I was already shaking from the heights and as soon as he got down on one knee, I got down with him and when he proposed, the answer was easy! YES! Now let’s get off this mountain!! Haha!”
• What was your most memorable moment from your wedding day? “Walking down the aisle and seeing my man standing there looking so handsome and strong. Our little one walked me down and it was so sweet and lovely.”
• What is one quirk you love about the other? “His sense of humor. And his smell. And Tickle, a funny birthmark we’ve named of his that has added a quirkiness and goofiness to our funny times. Oh and he loves my brains and my hair. Haha!”
• What was the most fun part of wedding planning? “Getting to know our photographer of course! As soon as we met you, we knew you were our “people.” The other fun part was taste-testing cupcakes!!!!”
• What advice do you have for couples planning their wedding now? “If you don’t love it, find something else. You have to pick the things and people that match your personality.”
• How did you choose Mount Princeton Hot Springs Resort for your wedding venue? “We already felt a magical connection with mt Princeton Hot Springs as a family, so when we found out we could actually get married there, it was easy. Everyone there was so wonderful.”
