When I first started my full time career as a Colorado wedding photographer, one of the first trips Mike and I made was to Aspen, Colorado. On our drive over Independence Pass, I knew I could not wait to get a couple up there with me one day! Much to my requests and attempts to get our awesome couples up there, it never quite panned out. Needless to say, when Anna said she and Anthony were ready to rock and roll by having their Independence Pass engagement photos done at nearly 12,000ft, I was 10000000% on board!
We are SO excited for this amazing couples wedding day next spring at the Highlands Ranch Mansion. Thank you so much for inviting us to go on this adventure with y’all!
Love,
Mike and Tay
How did the two of you meet?
In the most romantic way possible- 3am at a club in Chicago. Anthony was in town for work, and I was out with my girlfriends. He always says he saw me look at him and the strobe lights hit my blue eyes and knew he needed to talk to me. We ended up dancing that night and exchanged numbers. We were long distance for about 3.5 years until we moved to Colorado in 2015. We both feel it was the best decision we ever made.
Tell us about your first date!
About two weeks after meeting in Chicago, Anthony was in Detroit for work. We chatted on the phone and I mentioned I was going to an Incubus concert with my friend. Anthony asked if he could join, and immediately bought a ticket and hopped a train from Detroit to Chicago (which was like 7 hours, I think).
Anthony, how did you propose to Anna?
I proposed to Anna in Zermatt, Switzerland overlooking the Matterhorn. Our morning started with a helicopter tour over the Swiss Alps, which was half terrifying, half absolutely incredible. Once the helicopter landed at the top of a ski resort, we hopped out of the helicopter and I knew it was the perfect spot to propose to the love of my life. I handed my phone to a foreign couple to take a “picture” with Anna, dropped to one knee, and asked Anna to be my wife! (through some happy tears of course).
What made you choose Independence Pass for your engagement shoot?
We knew we wanted to have our engagement photos taken in the mountains and really be able to capture what we feel makes Colorado so special. I was browsing online and came across Independence Pass, and forgot how beautiful it was. I knew it would be a great spot to capture some epic pictures.
What are you most excited about for your wedding day?
Being able to have all of the most important people in our lives together in one place. We have such supportive families, and we want to be able to show how much we love them, and how much they have helped us become the people we both are today.
What’s been the most fun part of wedding planning so far?
Choosing our caterer, because we got to go on so many tastings and who doesn’t like eating 5 course meals at 2PM.
