Many people spend a large portion of their lives trying to find what Brett and Kimberly have. When I spoke with the two of them about their big day, they had just recently got engaged and you could just hear the giddiness in their voices! Their love is sincere, true, and unconditional. They’ve been through many things most couples don’t go through for years in their relationship and it has only given them the ability to love the other more deeply and share that with the world. We are so excited we got to be a part of your big day, Kim and Brett! Thank you so much for opening up to us and having us play such an intimate roll in your special day. We hope you’re having a stellar honeymoon!
Cheers,
Taylor & Mike
Brett + Kimberly’s First Look Interview
“Originally, the first look was something that neither Brett nor I were really wanting to do. We wanted to be very traditional and not see each other until we walked down the aisle, but after looking at the time schedule with everything that was happening for the day, we decided we wanted to spend more time at our reception than doing all of the photos before we went to the reception. Also I had a friend who did the first look and said it was one of the greatest experiences of her entire wedding day because it allowed her and her husband to have some private time without all of the chaos that is part of the wedding day. I think the one thing for me with the first look was really being able to focus just on Brett and not on anyone or anything else for a small moment of time. It was truly one of the best experiences and one of the things I remember most vividly. I remember being so nervous I was shaking walking up to him. I was kind of a nervous wreck all day but having him there really calmed me down.
My family was completely fine with us doing a first look; in fact my mom, who I thought would be against it since she is a more traditional type, really wanted us to do it because she wanted us to get to the reception quicker. I think the only person who was actually the most concerned about doing it was Brett, but I think he will agree that some of the first look photos are our absolute favorites. It rained our entire first look, but it made the sky looks really cool and our favorite photo from the first look is the one where we’re holding hands and looking opposite directions and you have all of Wash Park and the grey-ish sky in the background.
If we had to do it all over again, I would absolutely do a first look again. It was a really special time and it was really great to have some alone time in a day that is usually filled with people grabbing you in all different directions. Also, we got married in the church setting and it was fun to have pictures in the park.
Besides the first look, I don’t think we had a lot of time just to ourselves. With seven bridesmaids and seven groomsmen you’re always being pulled away and then having a bunch of people wanting to greet you after the wedding, I think our only alone time really was the first look and then of course the first dance but with that, it was being watched by 150 sets of eyes.
And of course our first look experience was made all the better having Taylor and Mike photograph it. You two made us feel so comfortable with everything :)”
