The barn at howard creek farm styled wedding photos
One of the newest and most quaint Colorado wedding venues has popped up in the small town of Howard, Colorado. Owned by husband and wife, Aly and Orlin Camerlo, the quintessential rustic Barn at Howard Creek Farm has quite a story! Built in 1861 in Indiana, this barn lacks nothing when it comes to character and history! Aly and Orlin undertook the quest of moving and rebuilding the barn in 2019 at their 11 acre property sitting on the Arkansas River just fifteen minutes outside of Salida, Colorado. Their beautiful property sits at the base of the Sangre de Cristo mountains and is complete with chickens, hay fields, a river backdrop, and of course, Teague (their energetic puppy mascot).
During this weird year of COVID-19, myself and a few other creatives were really itching to collaborate and create something beautiful! Aly and I had already chatted about organizing a styled wedding shoot at the barn before it had even finished completion. This time and space to collaborate and create couldn’t have come at a better time. And thanks to our friends and wonderful couple, Lexy and Pat, our vision to execute a boho meets eclectic meets country chic styled wedding was incredible!
Despite the gnarly storms that came in and seemingly could have stopped us, they made for the most incredible backdrop, skies, and lighting. Poor Lauren of Vanilla Pines Floristry in Buena Vista, Colorado, came running into the barn soaked to the bone and dang near in tears because she feared that the downpour had just wiped out the incredible amount of work she had just spent over two hours on for the alter florals. We walked through the glistening field towards her artwork and somehow, the rain made her creation look even more majestic!
When I chatted with Ashley of A Vow to Artistry located in Westcliff, Colorado, she asked what style and look we were going for at this session. I assured her she had free reign on anything she wanted to create and experiment with! She was so stoked and took the look of our sweet bride to a whole new level that none of us were expecting! Needless to say, Ashley’s take on cat eyes with a periwinkle eyeliner and boho braid on Lexy was perfectly on point for this colorful wedding shoot! Thanks to Aly’s collection of beautiful glass and Settings Event Rentals creative eye for country-meets-eclectic, we were able to totally embrace the bright colors up against the dark gray sky.
What’s more, is I was so excited to work alongside the super creative and hilarious Alyson of Alpine Tree Films based out of Buena Vista, Colorado. Her laid back approach to videography is both refreshing and grounding. She recently moved to Buena Vista and I for one am absolutely thrilled she’s here creating magic for couples and businesses alike!
We hope you love and find as much inspiration in this styled wedding as we did! The bright colors, fruit, and laughter are sure to make you smile if nothing else.
Cheers,
Taylor
